URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator(previously "Universal") -- a standard for specifying the location of an object on the Internet, such as a file or a page on your website. A URL may also be called a "web address." URLs are used extensively on the World-Wide Web. They are used in HTML documents to specify the target of a hyperlink which is often another HTML document (possibly stored on another computer).

Registering a domain name is similar to "purchasing" a name for your website. You select the Domain Names and the number of years you would like to own that name, and we will obtain unique rights to that name for you for the specified amount of time. For us to register your Domain Name, you must provide us with your preferred domain name. If it is available, we will in essence "purchase" the rights to that name for you. Although we will do the legwork, the domain name will be owned by you (not by us).
A domain name is the main part of the URL or Web Address. It is the section of the address before and including the .com, .net and .org. For example, the URL for this webpage is "http://www.yourspaceonline.com/notes/info.htm." The "Domain Name" for this site is "yourspaceonline.com".
If you don't already have a Domain Name for your YourSpaceOnline website, you will need to get one. YourSpaceOnline staff will be able to acquire one for you. You will need to let us know what Domain Name you would like to purchase, including the extension (such as .com, .net or .org, or others that are available), and for how many years you would like to register this domain name.
You may want to take the name you use for your business as your domain name, with dot-com tacked on at the end -- or you might pick a new domain name that you think will draw people to your website. We recommend picking a domain name that is easy for your customers to remember and find, indicates the nature of your business and is free of legal conflicts with trademarks belonging to other businesses.
WebSite Hosting is the placement, or housing, of your site at a physical destination-a server-so it may be accessed, viewed and navigated by your website's visitors. A Web Host provides the place on the Internet where your website lives. YourSpaceOnline provides shared webhosting, which is a lot cheaper than buying you own server.
If you don't know what a "host" is, chances are you don't have one. We can host your website for your. Our staff will help you choose the least effective, most reliable hosting plan for your YourSpaceOnline website
Included with each YourSpaceOnline Website Packages are your very own email addresses! Please provide addresses you would like us to create for you. You need to provide the portion of the email address that preceeds the @ . For example, if your name is John Doe and you are responsible for sales at widgets.com, suggested email addresses would include John@widgets.com, John_Doe@widgets.com or sales@widgets.com. You are only limited by your imagination, but we suggest selecting email addresses that are easy to remember for both you and those who will be emailing you.
To ensure that your Website Package fits your selected look and feel for your website, we offer two groups of type-faces for your Website Design: serif and sans-serif. Here are examples:
Any image, graphic, design, text or decoration used to create and enhance your website, other than photographs, can be animated. We are able to animate backgrounds, bullets, lines, navigation buttons, image maps, arrows, titles, and any image of flowers, animals, cars, symbols, etc., from the smallest bullet to a full page background. We can animate your logo, and/or make buttons change colors when your mouse moves over it. Although any object on your YourSpaceOnline website can be animated, we recommend being conservative in the amount of animation you ask us to include. Although limite animation can bring life and interest to your website, too much animation may detract from your message.
As part of every YourSpaceOnline website package is included complimentary roll-over buttons (buttons that change appearance when your mouse is rolled over and return to their original state when the mouse is moved off the button). You may choose to animate any other part of your website as well, for an additional charge.
You may wish to get feedback from your website viewers, or provide them with a mechanism to order products from your site, or otherwise provide you with information. Website visitors are able to submit information to you, the website owner, via "forms". The user completes the form and then submits the completed form. The information then travels thru the Internet to the server where your website is hosted. The server than processes the information provided by the user, and performs the tasks that you request and YourSpaceOnline staff program the server to do. For example, if you complete the YourSpaceOnline Website Design Order Form, the information you submit goes to the server. We have programmed the server to send the information to the YourSpaceOnline service team.
A "Hit Counter" is a counter of the times your site has been accessed. Everytime someone accesses your webpage that has the counter, the counter is incremented by one. YourSpaceOnline will provide a complimentary counter if you select this option. The counter will be placed at the bottom of your selected page.
The "Title" of your site will appear at the top of the browser and will also be how your page is referenced if returned as a result of a search engine search. Make sure the title is relevant, brief and accurate.
Inner pages are all the pages other than your home page. Please provide us with the title of each inner page, as well as the text that you would like to appear on the buttons which link to that page.
Meta tags are the sections of your HTML that provide direction and information for search engine robots. Meta tags are not viewable to Internet users unless they examine the source code of your pages. While meta-tags aren't required, we will include metatags in all of your web pages if you provide them to us. Meta-Tags include Keywords and Descriptions, among others.
Keywords are included as a metatag within your website. Search Engine read these keywords. Good Keywords are the common words people usually search for that are relevant to your site. Use the keywords you'll expect people to search for most often at the beginning of your keyword list. Don't repeat keywords too many times or your tags may be ignored by some search engines.
Another meta-tag is the description tag.
YourSpaceOnline will charge $15/15 minutes to international customers to cover long distance phone charges associated with the development of your website and the need for phone consultation. YourSpaceOnline charges this international fee to enable us to continue to keep the prices of YourSiteOnline Webpackages at their current low rates.
